Music to Level Up Your Day: BioShock Infinite

I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases.

Composer: Garry Schyman

Singer: Courtnee Draper and Troy Baker

North American Release Date: March 2013

The game is set in the year 1912 and follows Booker DeWitt, a former Pinkerton agent sent to the airborne city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for most of her life. The two eventually become involved with the city's warring factions: the nativist and elite Founders that rule Columbia and strive to keep its privileges for White Americans, and the Vox Populi, underground rebels representing the underclass of the city.

Series composer Garry Schyman returned, opting for a different tone from the underwater city of Rapture. The score is simpler, utilizing small string ensembles with anywhere from three to ten players. Like its predecessors, Infinite uses a lot of licensed music that has been altered to sound "old timey". I have omitted these tracks in order to focus on the original scores.
