Music to Level Up Your Day: Dragon Age II

I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases.

Composer: Inon Zur

Singer: Aubrey Ashburn

North American Release Date: March 2011

Set in the medieval fantasy world of Thedas, players assume the role of Hawke, a human mage who arrives in the city of Kirkwall as a refugee, and becomes its legendary champion over a turbulent decade of political and social conflict.

As the game focuses on Hawke's family and their adventures in the world, Zur used a string quartet to play the solo, while the orchestra had a supporting role. He introduced Middle-eastern sounds for the city of Kirkwall, since it was foreign to the Hawke family.
