I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined
person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who
doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right,
or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts
will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise
in some rare cases.
Composer: Jeremy Soule
North American Release Date: November 2011
Set in Skyrim, the northernmost province of Tamriel, 200 years after the events of Oblivion; a civil war has broken out over the murder of Skyrim's leader and an Imperial ban on the worship of Talos. The main story focuses on the Dragonborn - a mortal with the soul of a dragon, and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater.
The game's main theme "Dragonborn" was recorded with a choir of over 30 people singing in the fictional dragon language. Three separate recordings were layered to create the effect of 90 voices. Some songs, such as Watch the Skies may not have any meaningful lyrics.
