I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases.
Composer: Jeremy Soule
North American Release Date: May 2002
The story takes place on Vvardenfell, an island in the Dunmer (Dark Elf) province of Morrowind, and concerns the deity Dagoth Ur, who seeks to break Morrowind free from Imperial reign.
Soule used orchestral elements in conjunction with synthesized ones, saying that the "epic quality" of the Elder Scrolls series was "particularly compatible with the grand, orchestral style of music" that he enjoys composing. At just an hour in length, Soule chose to create a soft and minimalist score so as not to wear out players' ears.
