I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases.
Composer: Bill Elm and Woody Jackson
North American Release Date: May 2010
Set during the decline of the American frontier in the year 1911, the story follows former outlaw John Marston, whose wife and son have been taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun.
The music was recorded at Jackson's studio in Los Angeles, and intended to imitate the soundtracks of 1960s Western films. A mix of modern instruments, like the harmonica and accordion, were used alongside ones commonly featured in Western films, like the jaw harp. Creative uses of instruments were also employed to create unique sounds, such as playing a trumpet onto the surface of a timpani drum.

"Some trees flourish, others die. Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair." - John Marston
